Health and Safety

We’re passionate about creating safer, more informed working environments for our teams so that they have the support and safety they need to continue delivering exceptional engineering projects in Ireland and the UK. Our highly qualified engineering and project managers know that we’ll go above and beyond to govern each and every one of our projects with the same level of attention and detail to ensure health and safety remain our top priorities.

Our ‘Zero’ Behavioral Programme

Our ‘ZERO’ Programme is our behavioural change corporate programme that helps us promote a zero-tolerance policy to unsafe working conditions and practises. We refuse to create an operational culture where safety is compromised. Instead, we highlight the importance of training, consultations, and best practice to protect our teams.

We promote these behavioural changes through signs on notice boards, emails, safety reminders, safety alerts, Toolbox Talks, upskilling, seminars, and refresher training sessions.

Embracing Technology for Safety

We use the mWorkers app to log and collate all behavioural observations and to record our daily activities, including toolbox talks, audits, good catches, and plant- and equipment-assessments. Each of our workers receive log-in details during their site-induction training sessions, so that they can use the app to identify positive and negative behavioural observations.

These observations – both positive and negative – give us valuable insight into the unsafe acts, incidents, and improvements that we can monitor to ensure the health and safety of our teams. While the negative observations allow us a chance to strengthen our approach, their positive counterparts provide our team with the encouragement and reinforcement they need to continue observing the appropriate practices.

Responding to Change

Being flexible enough to respond to change as it occurs is an invaluable skill that we’ve been honing since our business’s establishment more than 55 years ago. We proactively plan ahead and keep procedures in place so that we can effectively mitigate serious risk. In our industry, health and safety are paramount, which is why we have drastically changed our approach during COVID-19. Protecting our staff, highly qualified engineers and project managers is essential, which is why our senior management and HSQE teams always refer to the latest news and public health as shared by leading authorities in health, safety, and protection. We will continue to take the necessary precautions to protect ourselves, our business, and our valued clients so that we can continue delivering engineering projects in Ireland and the UK.

Sustainability

Sustainability is in integral cornerstone of our business and our industry as a whole. We are proud of our role in the world’s journey towards net zero carbon emissions, and we take great responsibility for the resources we use and the way our processes affect the world around us.

To make sure that our projects are delivered as sustainably as possible, we work with our Clients and Environment Agencies so that we can strengthen and enhance the biodiversity of our working areas.

Each one of our projects have a clearly established Environmental Aspects and Register which we use to identify certain environmental risks, suspicious activity, and more. Our register also allows us the insight we need to act immediately and minimise our impact on the environment around us.

mWorkerCIS is our chosen software that allows us to complete Quality, Safety, and Environmental forms with mobile technology. Our personnel, highly qualified engineers and project managers each use this software on their phones, laptops, and tablets to complete forms, compile branded reports, and access insightful reporting dashboards.

Thanks to this unique software, we can analyse the information on the app to detect trends or gaps where we can improve, or where further training is necessary. This gives us the chance to intervene as soon as we possibly can to protect the health, safety, and wellbeing of our teams and their working environments.

The mWorkerCIS software has also given our company the opportunity to reduce our paper requirements by 75% thanks to a completely digital system.
