Key Features of our Scope of Works

  • Poultry house
    • Construction of 2 No. poultry houses.
    • Roof consisted of external single skin cladding, 200mm insulation and internal ceiling liner sheet.
    • Installation of the complete drainage system including storm attenuation tanks.
    • Each poultry house included standard strip and pad foundations with 1m high RC stub walls, with bolt arrangements in place, steel portal frame erection and constructing reinforced concrete floors incorporating falls and channels for associated drainage.
    • New access road and utilities and also includes a new reservoir site, 38kV substation and offices.
    • The works included site clearance, sub structure and super structure of the building, all services and duct work, fencing and hard and soft landscaping.

    Facility Extension

    • Construction of steel portal frame structure with ground floor area of 1,600m2 and a mezzanine floor area of 625m2.
    • RC strip and pad foundations with 2m high concrete wall and the construction of 7No. dock levellers
    • Internal walls consisted of 100mm rockwool modular panel, the ceilings consisted of a 150mm rockwool modular panel and there was a stainless steel kerb installed on each internal wall with terrazzo tiles installed on all floors.
    • Installation of refrigeration / air cooling system
    • The roof consisted of 60mm Kingspan cladding and the external walls consisted of 40mm Kingspan cladding.
    • The construction of a new concrete yard (5,000m2) and concrete retaining wall (60m long x 3m high) with new lorry wash and refuelling area.
    • Installation of new fuel retention separator and bypass separator for surface water management and the installation of new wastewater treatment system – this element of the project was coordinated and carried out during ‘off-peak’ hours to eliminate disruption to existing operations.
    • While excavating the foundations, soft ground was encountered. The excavation depth was typically 3m in locations. All soft / unsuitable material was removed and replaced using lean mix concrete. A new yard was created for the loading of lorries and parking. Bulk excavation of approximately 5,000m3 was required to achieve the design level.

How Cleantech Civils Added Value

Greenfield Foods needed to improve the site condition, which we achieved through specific soil stabilisation techniques. We excavated deep wells and installed pumps to lower the site’s water levels. Additionally, we large swales to cover the full site length, in order to cut off any water coming from surrounding boglands.

To link the site with haul roads, we designed and constructed utilising terram, geogrid, and imported recycled concrete to ensure a green, eco-friendly approach. This also proved effective at keeping the heavy plant operational during the construction process. In fact, Greenfield Foods’ production facility did not have to cease operations in any way from start to finish, continuing business as usual without interruption or disruption.

Hygiene management during construction for food production is a key factor for our client. We informed the client that we would be implementing various management methods, so that construction could ensue without placing hygiene at risk in any way.

We further developed numerous video and animated inductions to outline critical safety and hygiene methods. This content was translated in various languages to accommodate all our international representatives on site.
